Description

The Line 6 DL4 Delay Modeler is a pedalboard-friendly delay unit that recreates a range of classic and modern delay sounds through its 16 delay models, which are selectable via a knob that scrolls through the presets. Its most distinctive feature is the set of four large footswitches that control tap tempo and looper functions; the leftmost switch sets the delay time by tapping, while the rightmost switch engages a built-in looper that can record and overdub up to 14 seconds of audio. The three knobs labeled Delay Time, Feedback, and Mix adjust the core delay parameters: Delay Time sets the spacing between repeats (or can be overridden by tap tempo), Feedback controls how many times the delayed signal repeats before fading out, and Mix blends the dry signal with the effected sound. Additional controls include a Tweaks section with two knobs that vary depending on the selected model, allowing for adjustments like modulation depth or filter character, and a Model Select knob that also offers a bypass position. The pedal operates in true stereo with separate left and right inputs and outputs, and it can be powered by a standard 9V DC adapter. The looper can be used independently of the delay models, making the DL4 a versatile tool for both delay effects and loop-based performance.
